Nom Nom Truck

Looks like Nom Nom ain’t just for cats. Humans love to munch, too. I was delighted when the Nom Nom Truck appeared near my office park today. I will say that the Banh Mis are worth $5, but being a girl who grew up on them, it just seems wrong to pay more than $2. Inflation! I had the grilled pork banh mi and it was delicious. They also offer BBQ pork, Lemongrass chicken, Tofu, and the “Deli Special” — which I suspect is the OG banh mi with the fatty meats and pate. If you happen to see the truck parked near you, pull over and pick up a 12-inch for five bucks. It’s totally worth it.

You can get more information at nomnomtruck.com or follow their schedule on Twitter.

Here is their weekend schedule:

Friday, March 12th:
11:30AM-2:30PM:Ocean Park and 31st
6:30PM-9:30PM: Yogurtland @ 2130 Sawtelle Blvd. in West LA

Saturday, March 13th:
12PM-4PM:@ The Brig
6:30PM-10:00PM: Yogurtland @ 2130 Sawtelle Blvd. in West LA

Bing.com is Awesome!

bing_cambo

OK, so I am a Google fan and haven’t used Bing.com much, but that all changed tonight. I was cruising around the site and found it to be incredibly deep and useful. And I’m not just swayed by the fact that Cambodia was on the main page today. I searched True Blood and found that my results were broken down into relevant categories like: News, DVD, Cast, Wallpaper, Theme Song, Quotes, Videos, and Images. This isn’t enough for me to switch from Google for quick and dirty searches, but for depth and fun factor I will definitely be adding Bing to the menu.

I’ve been on a Craftster kick lately and today I came across this gem. It’s a “Victorian meets Glam Rock” Macbook case. OMGLOLYAY don’t you love it? It was handcrafted by a woman in Florida. And you can see the evolution of this laptop case at Crafter.org.

Spencer’s on the Go – French Food Truck

french_takeaway

I never have a craving for French food, but this little truck is fantastic and dangerously close to my home. The take-away outpost for Chez Spencer, Spencer’s on the Go has a small menu including Foie Gras Torchon, Escargot Lollipop, and Frog Legs w/ Curry. The price point is a bit high for the average Joe, but I gladly shelled out $12 for my Foie Gras. Sorry about the dark pic, but I popped in for a late-night snack.

Totally Gratuitous Pics of Don Draper…er, I mean Jon Hamm

Mad-Men-Season-3-Poster-Donald-Draper-Jon-Hamm.0.0.0x0.400x589

In honor of the third season of Mad Men, I thought that I’d remind us all of the number one reason to watch: Don Draper. Played by the gorgeous Jon Hamm, Don Draper is the most debonair character on television. Enjoy the pics!

The object of the game is to get the smiley guy into the red hole. You can cut through wood, but not metal or bricks. It’s fun in the beginning and then it becomes an obsession! Check out Splitter 2 here.

Google Chrome OS

dlpage_lg

Just when you thought Google was slowing down, here they come with their own operating system. On a personal note, it was an OMFG moment for me. I’m amazed. Although, this operating system is not directly competing with Microsoft or Apple, it is definitely drifting into that territory. And as you already know, with the release of Android and Chrome, Google has already been making moves. They’ve got gumption, that’s for sure. I guess that is why they rule the Internet. Here are some key quotes from their news release:

“However, the operating systems that browsers run on were designed in an era where there was no web. So today, we’re announcing a new project that’s a natural extension of Google Chrome — the Google Chrome Operating System. It’s our attempt to re-think what operating systems should be.”

“Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010.”

“Google Chrome OS is a new project, separate from Android….While there are areas where Google Chrome OS and Android overlap, we believe choice will drive innovation for the benefit of everyone, including Google.”
