Sirius XM iPhone App Unleashed Tomorrow

3-12-09-sirius-xm-iphone

The Sirius XM satellite radio is coming to your iPhone on June 18th. It seems like the app itself will be free to download, but if you have a free account for the online service, you’ll have to pay $2.99 to subscribe to the mobile service. Not a bad price to have Stern in your pants. More details at Engadget.

TweetDeck Coming to iPhone

img_0374

I stole this screen shot from kevinrose.com. But here you you Tweeps. Yet another App to add to your phone. I’m not currently using TweetDeck, so I don’t know yet if I’ll switch over. I don’t have a desktop Twitter App and I’m using TwitterFon on my iPhone. But Mr. Rose seems to be sold, so I’m guessing millions of fanboys an girls will follow suit. On a personal note, I like how KR takes a screen shot at 11:11AM… superstious?

More stolen screen shots…

Digg for Chicks

smak

Welcome to Smak News — a site that allows you to vote on stories, much like Digg.com. But instead of voting up and down, you “follow” stories and “talk smak.” The culture is a more positive space, not like the nasty comment trolls on Digg or Reddit. The site seems fairly new and membership seems low, but I’m glad that a site like this is around for women. As much as I like those other sites, they are male-centric, so I’ll never see links to hot guys.

Neato: The Nokia Ovi Store

ovistore

Let’s welcome the latest applications hub for smart phones. The Nokia Ovi Store is up and running and it’s not bad. Obviously, the iPhone App Store is sets the bar for all other marketplaces, so we can’t do that comparison. The Ovi store seems like it’s best for people who are still faithful to adorable designs rather than sleek interfaces. For instance, I miss my old Nokia 7360 (the Bella Swan phone that was used in Twilight), which I traded in for an iPhone 3G  last year. Ed. Note: The Nokia 7360 is only available in Europe and Asia.

Gorgeous Design!

Gorgeous Design!

But, let’s not cry over spilled milk. The new generation of smart phones requires the proper bells and whistles. I thought that I would mix it up, though and decided to select the 7360, to see what was available for non-smart phones. And here’s what I got.

A Twitter TV Show?

video-tv2

The incredibly successful social networking site, Twitter.com, has announced plans for a TV show and I have my misgivings.

The social-networking service said Monday it has teamed with Reveille productions and Brillstein Entertainment Partners to develop an unscripted series based on the site, which invites 140-character postings from members around the world. (msn.com)

Later, a Mashable article disputed this report…

Twitter’s Biz Stone has confirmed that Twitter has signed a contract with production company Reveille and Brillstein for a TV show, but emphasizes that this is not an “official” Twitter show – it’s a non-exclusive contract, and multiple companies are currently working on TV projects related to Twitter.

In plain english, then: Twitter is allowing production companies to work on Twitter shows, but there will be many of these and Twitter will not, it seems, endorse one ahead of another. This sounds similar to the Nighttline web show launched by ABC: the company claimed to have an agreement with Twitter, but this is likely to be non-exclusive. (mashable.com)

It seems to me that Twitter is flirting with overexposure before they finish this list:

1. Create addictive website
2. Get celebrities to be evangelists
3. ???
4. Profit!

What is Wrong with Twitter on TV?

Working Online a Gold Rush? Los Angeles Tribune Scam Alert!

Get comfy and read about this scam that I stumbled upon. It is truly diabolical. It all began when I was checking my Alexa.com stats. I was curious about the “Hot URLs,” so I cruised down the list to see what articles and links were blazing.

hoturls

Everything seemed normal until I saw number eight...

SIGN ME UP, SCOTTY!

Everything seemed typical until I saw the headline in the number eight spot from losangeles-tribune.com. It said, “Jobs: Is Working Online At Home The Next Gold Rush?” Naturally, I wanted to check it out because this is right up my alley. It was a totally legitimate looking news blog so I kept reading.

3 Girly Girl Phones

How adorable are these phones? What bothers me is that it’s difficult to get them in the U.S. In the rest of the world — especially Asia and Europe — the variety of phones is comparable to a Vegas buffet. Enjoy the eye candy anyway. And if you’re lucky enough to take a trip to Asia, get yourself an unlocked phone!

Okay, so I’m still in full Battlestar Galactica obsession/mourning mode. When I saw this it made me think of BSG toasters right away. It’s the Super Nintoaster: one part Super Nintendo, one part toaster. You can read more at Engaget.

Would You Buy This LEGO Cam?

According to Digital Blue, a LEGO-licensed video camera called the ‘LEGO Animation Station’ is in the works. It is part of a line of digital cameras, PMPs, and walkie-talkies for children. All of the items will have a LEGO look, but won’t be made out of LEGO blocks.

It’s priced at $80. Not bad. Read the rest of the article at trendhunder.com.

Flower Pot Gadget Charging Solar Thing

Check out this conceptual design. It’s from designer Mac Funamizu and it’s a flower pot with green leaves that are solar panels. It’s so gorgeous! Sadly, it’s only a concept. We hope this sees the light of day, eventually (pun totally intended). Read more about it here.

Wanna See the Gizmodo Home Office?

I saw this on Apartment Therapy. I was trying to take a break from anything tech or celebrity related by looking at beautiful homes, but instead I was sucked into this article. It’s an intimate look at the home office of Brian Lam of Gizmodo. Pretty much sums up the life of a blogger, I would say. I personally haven’t taken over our dining room table…yet. Check out the rest of the interview and pics at Apartment Therapy.
