I’ll make this post short and link to the L.A. Tribute post. This is the same deal as before: Legit-looking website peddling easy money from home. This time it’s called The Foster City Daily News and the website is securecartcenter.com, but the scam remains the same. For those of you who haven’t read about this before, these news sites make it seem easy to earn money from home by spending just $1. The reality is that you’ll end up spending anywhere from $80-100 per month. Messed up, right?

Digg for Chicks
Welcome to Smak News — a site that allows you to vote on stories, much like Digg.com. But instead of voting up and down, you “follow” stories and “talk smak.” The culture is a more positive space, not like the nasty comment trolls on Digg or Reddit. The site seems fairly new and membership seems low, but I’m glad that a site like this is around for women. As much as I like those other sites, they are male-centric, so I’ll never see links to hot guys.

Google Wave
It looks like the masterminds at Google have taken their best applications and smashed them all together into one big browser-application thing. At the moment, they are only collecting e-mail addresses for the big announcement. Looks interesting, right? Here’s what Google has to say about their new baby.

Neato: The Nokia Ovi Store
Let’s welcome the latest applications hub for smart phones. The Nokia Ovi Store is up and running and it’s not bad. Obviously, the iPhone App Store is sets the bar for all other marketplaces, so we can’t do that comparison. The Ovi store seems like it’s best for people who are still faithful to adorable designs rather than sleek interfaces. For instance, I miss my old Nokia 7360 (the Bella Swan phone that was used in Twilight), which I traded in for an iPhone 3G last year. Ed. Note: The Nokia 7360 is only available in Europe and Asia.
But, let’s not cry over spilled milk. The new generation of smart phones requires the proper bells and whistles. I thought that I would mix it up, though and decided to select the 7360, to see what was available for non-smart phones. And here’s what I got.

A Twitter TV Show?
The incredibly successful social networking site, Twitter.com, has announced plans for a TV show and I have my misgivings.
The social-networking service said Monday it has teamed with Reveille productions and Brillstein Entertainment Partners to develop an unscripted series based on the site, which invites 140-character postings from members around the world. (msn.com)
Later, a Mashable article disputed this report…
Twitter’s Biz Stone has confirmed that Twitter has signed a contract with production company Reveille and Brillstein for a TV show, but emphasizes that this is not an “official” Twitter show – it’s a non-exclusive contract, and multiple companies are currently working on TV projects related to Twitter.
In plain english, then: Twitter is allowing production companies to work on Twitter shows, but there will be many of these and Twitter will not, it seems, endorse one ahead of another. This sounds similar to the Nighttline web show launched by ABC: the company claimed to have an agreement with Twitter, but this is likely to be non-exclusive. (mashable.com)
It seems to me that Twitter is flirting with overexposure before they finish this list:
1. Create addictive website
2. Get celebrities to be evangelists
3. ???
4. Profit!
What is Wrong with Twitter on TV?

Designer Twitter Wallpaper
The other day, I was thinking that some Twitter users out there might want wallpaper representing their favorite designers. So, I decided to create a few of them just for fun. I chose three designers that I think are amazing, iconic, and fun: Marc Jacobs, Chanel, and Juicy Couture. I hope you all enjoy them and pass them around freely. And if you’re feeling kind, shoot back a link to my blog. These are so fun to make, so there may be more to come. If you have a favorite designer, let me know! <3

Chanel, darling!

Working Online a Gold Rush? Los Angeles Tribune Scam Alert!
Get comfy and read about this scam that I stumbled upon. It is truly diabolical. It all began when I was checking my Alexa.com stats. I was curious about the “Hot URLs,” so I cruised down the list to see what articles and links were blazing.

Everything seemed normal until I saw number eight...
SIGN ME UP, SCOTTY!
Everything seemed typical until I saw the headline in the number eight spot from losangeles-tribune.com. It said, “Jobs: Is Working Online At Home The Next Gold Rush?” Naturally, I wanted to check it out because this is right up my alley. It was a totally legitimate looking news blog so I kept reading.

3 Girly Girl Phones
How adorable are these phones? What bothers me is that it’s difficult to get them in the U.S. In the rest of the world — especially Asia and Europe — the variety of phones is comparable to a Vegas buffet. Enjoy the eye candy anyway. And if you’re lucky enough to take a trip to Asia, get yourself an unlocked phone!

Zachary Quinto in the Short Film Bordeaux
Alright. I’m still on my Zachary Quinto kick. Here is a short film that he did as a favor for his friend. It’s more like a music video than a short film, but it’s fun and you get to see the set of Heroes.

Robert Pattinson at Inglorious Bastards in Cannes [video]
It’s been a while since I’ve reported on Rpatz. So here he is on the red carpet at a screening of Inglorious Bastards at Cannes. Don’t miss the pictures of Rob at the amFAR benefit, after the video.
Here’s another interview from GMTV. They don’t allow their videos to be embedded, so here’s the link. Continue reading →

Temporary Theme Change

Ugh. Last night I updated wordpress and it turns out that my theme is not compatible with the new update, so I’m using this theme temporarily. I guess the messy desk theme is a little played out anyway, but I liked it. If you have any suggestions or tech help, please contact me. Thanks!
